Snowbirds set to fly over Hamilton, Niagara, Brantford after being grounded

Team asks people to 'observe the flyovers from the safety of their home'

Residents in Hamilton, Burlington and Niagara are invited to turn their eyes to the skies Sunday afternoon as the Canadian Forces Snowbirds are set to fly over the region as part of "Operation Inspiration."

The Snowbirds were originally scheduled to soar over the area on Saturday, but snow and hail kept the planes grounded in Trenton.

The plan for Sunday saw the Snowbirds leave Trenton around 9:30 a.m. and land in Toronto an hour later.

Then they'll take off in Toronto at 12:45 p.m and fly to London by way of Burlington, Hamilton, Grimsby, St. Catharines, Niagara Falls and Brantford.

Actual times and the exact route could vary and the Snowbirds ask people to monitor their social media accounts.

The tour of Canada is a way to boost morale during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Snowbirds Facebook page asks people not to travel to see the air demonstration team and instead "observe the flyovers from the safety of their home."
