Bear family relocated after making home on highway median

Officials safely moved the family of bears that had made their home on a highway median.

A highway median isn't the best place for anyone to make their home -- and it's especially unsafe for a mother and her babies.

Luckily for the mama bear and two cubs that decided to hunker down in the middle of the highway, some humans stepped in to help.

Police shut doen the road while environmental police tranquilized the mother bear.

They then transported her and her two babies to a nearby state forest.

The family was easy to locate because mama bear is one of 30 in the area scientsts are tracking through GPS collars.

Officials are taking the opportunity to remind the public that bears are starting to emerge from winter hibertation, and they could come into contact with people while they're foraging for food.
