Giant emu recovering after escaping police, blocking morning traffic
RCMP trailed the emu in a truck while the giant bird wandered down the shoulder of the road, but eventually became aggressive.
"I'm surprised it didn't get hit by a car," witness Ronald Bell said in a video posted by Global News.
"He must have travelled 2 km from where he escaped."
After half an hour, police were forced to taser the emu, whose name is Parker. It was returned to the farm unharmed, according to the CBC.
The emu is the world's second-largest living bird and is related to the ostrich. It is native to Australia.
