Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax andfloat. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in adirection following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face theshore and call or wave for help.

* WHAT...Dangerous rip currents expected.* WHERE...Walton and Bay County Beaches.* WHEN...From noon CDT today through late Thursday night.* IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers awayfrom shore into deeper water.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Early this morning, the buoy located 88miles south-southeast of Apalachicola offshore buoy wasobserving 4-foot waves with a dominant period of 8 seconds, anda mean wave direction from the south-southeast. Some portion ofthis wave energy will move up to the Emerald Coast thisafternoon around the same time that the seabreeze kicks in, so ahigh risk of rip currents is likely to develop.
