New Instagram filters to make your weather look even better (or not)
Wednesday, December 17, 2014, 3:04 PM - Just in time for the holidays, weather photographers worldwide have reason to rejoice: Five new filters added to the social photo sharing platform, Instagram.
It's the visual giant's biggest update for users in over two years, adding Crema, Slumber, Ludwig, Aden and Perpetua to bring the total number of available filters to 24.
"Photography trends have evolved, and the capabilities of the camera on your phone have vastly improved," the company wrote in a blog post. "We’ve seen tremendous creativity within the community, not only in the moments they share, but in the time spent carefully composing and editing photos and videos to bring out emotions and make them beautiful."
From our perspective, a sixth filter should have been added named 'underwhelming,' as the aforementioned five new ones fail to deliver a meaningful impact. Subtle changes in colour temperature, tint and contrast make these filters more sophisticated than Instagram's previous offerings, but overall rather bland. (I will admit that Crema adds a certain smoothing brightness, making it perfect for selfies.)
Take a look at the photos below and see if you can spot the differences between the filters. Are they any #instagood?
