Heavy rainfall hits the Maritimes

Thursday, October 23, 2014, 7:24 PM - A slow-moving Nor'easter has hit the Maritimes, bringing periods of heavy rain and strong winds that will persist over the next couple of days.
"As of 3 p.m. ADT, Halifax, Nova Scotia had picked up 11 mm of rain, Yarmouth had seen 38 mm, Western Head saw 62 mm, Saint John, 52 mm and Fredericton recorded 31 millimeters," says Weather Network meteorologist Kelly Sonnenburg.
"Radar suggests rain will continue to move through during the overnight, bringing an additional 20-20 mm of rain."

Strong wind gusts through the Bay of Fundy and the shores of Nova Scotia have also been observed.
"Baccaro Point reported wind gusts of 83 km/h Thursday," Sonnenburg says. "Winds will pick up into the Gulf of St. Lawrence Friday."
The bulk of the rain is expected to push through Newfoundland Friday afternoon.
